October’s presentation is on the European green crab with Dr. Brian Turner!
The presentation:
The European green crab may be one of the most prolific invasive species in the world, but what does that mean for Washington? Learn about their origins, why they are such a concern, and what actions are underway to deal with the threat.
The speaker:
Dr. Brian Turner is the Research Scientist for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Aquatic Invasive Species Unit. While currently up to his neck in European green crabs, he has also monitored mussels, corralled clams, neutralized nutria, sought snails, and identified insects. He is an avid science communicator and former professor at Portland State University. Brian is always happy to get out of the office and talk with folks, so be sure to say hi if you see him.
