Community Robotics at Budd Bay (CRABB)

About CRABB

Groups or individuals are welcome to attend our CRABB program where you’ll learn some of the history of underwater exploration, assemble an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) kit, and get to see a professional ROV in action! One ROV kit will be distributed to each family group, or group of individuals, and you can either follow our detailed instructions or let your creativity soar.

Attire/Gear – Wear non-slip shoes as the dock can be slippery and dress for the weather. Not a bad idea for those with children to have spare clothes and towel in the car.

Adults (Ages 13 and older) – $15

Children** (Ages 12 and younger) – $3

**Children must wear life jackets during this event and be accompanied by an adult. There must be at least one adult per two children to ensure supervision and safety. This event involves some contact with deep water and is not recommended for children under 6 years old. We have some life jackets to borrow, but please bring your own if you can.

Cancellation – We reserve the right to cancel CRABB due to low registration (under 8 participants) or bad weather. Our weather policy is based on Olympia School District closures, i.e. if the Olympia School District closes its schools based on weather, we will also cancel CRABB. In the case of above cancellations, the Estuarium will make every effort to work with registrants to reschedule.

All other cancellations (e.g. no shows or personal reasons) will not be rescheduled, nor refunded.

Liability Waiver – All participants must sign a liability waiver that will be provided in the registration process.

We have a discount that offers free registration to individuals or families with an EBT card. To utilize this new program, email Programs@pugetsoundestuarium.org with a photo of your EBT card and a valid ID.
